OUR HISTORY
The Carmelite Missionaries (C.M) are a religious Congregation, born as a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church by their Founder, Blessed Francisco Palau Y Quer (OCD) in the year 1860, to have a fundamental role in the church, to be visible signs & prophetic expression of communion with God & with the brothers & sisters. The Congregation was approved as an Institute of Pontifical right by Pope Pious X on 3rd December 1907. Sisters have been rendering selfless & dedicated service to the society without discrimination of caste & creed. This Congregation is engaged in charitable and educational activities all over India & 40 countries abroad, reflecting the spirit of Christian charity.

COMMUNITY
We the Carmelite Missionaries are founded by Fr. Francisco Palau, a Carmelite Priest from Spain in 1860. We are an international Congregation and thus we are present in forty countries all over the world. Our charism is to be sign of communion in the Church and in the world.Our Congregation is present in India since 1954. It was the Indian Government invited the Spanish Sisters to work in the Leprosy hospital of Junagadh, Gujerat. With this humble beginning, today we are present in nine states: viz: Gujarat, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Jharkhand, Kerala, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Our apostolate is varied, such as: education, health, social and pastoral work. In India very especially we focus on the education of the girl child and women empowerment through Self Help Groups in remote areas of our country.
